Some WAARC Veterans receive a Quilt of Thanks

The Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio club has many service veterans and at the last meeting, club member Donna, KO4GLO, presented six of them with a Quilt of Thanks.

Donna was working with a local sewing circle to award quilts to vets as a way of saying “thank you for your service”. The group disbanded in 2025 leaving Donna with part of the materials (tops) for four quilts. And then a few more parts (tops) were donated. After friends, a book club, and WAARC friends helped with funding, the rest of the materials were gathered. Donna was able to award six veterans a Quilt of Thanks at the April 14, 2026 meeting, and she will have two more for member vets who are currently serving and could not attend.  Donna said “Quilters give quilts as a way of saying thank you” and she thanked “all the friends, known and unknown who made this possible”.
