Amateur Licensing Classes

WAARC offers amateur licensing classes periodically throughout the year. Detailed information about class offerings can be found below.

September 2019 Technician and General Classes

The Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club (WAARC) will be offering a class for the entry level license, known as the Technician Class and the mid-level license, known as the General Class.  The classes are free. However, there is a $15.00 processing fee for the written exam.
NOTE:  The dates for the written exam are approximate at this time.

TECHNICIAN CLASS 

WHEN:  Tuesdays and Fridays, Sep 10 – Oct 22,  9:00am – 12:30pm
WHERE:  James City-Bruton Fire Station,  3135 Forge Rd., Toano, VA
EXAM SESSION:  Thursday Oct 24  9:00am – until  (at the Fire Station)

GENERAL CLASS

WHEN:  Mondays and Thursdays,  Sept 9 – Oct 14,  9:00am – 12:30pm
WHERE:  James City-Bruton Fire Station,  3135 Forge Rd., Toano, VA
EXAM SESSION:  Thursday Oct 17  9:00am – until  (at the Fire Station)

What you need for the class

For the Technician class you will need a copy of the Fourth Edition of the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual.  For the General class you will need a copy of the Ninth Edition of the ARRL General Class License Manual.  If purchased through us the spiral bound version of either manual is available for $26.19.  If you wish to purchase it on your own the manual is $32.95 plus tax, plus shipping and handling from the ARRL. Amazon is currently offering the manual for $29.66 with free shipping.  If you decide to obtain your own manual make sure you get the edition listed above.  Any other edition will be outdated and not appropriate for class. You can use the links below or your own resources if you wish to purchase your own manual.
