Amateur Licensing Classes

WAARC offers amateur licensing classes periodically throughout the year. Detailed information about current class offerings can be found below.

September 2021 Technician Class

The Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club (WAARC) will be offering a class for the entry level Amateur Radio license, known as the Technician Class. The class is free. However, there is a $15.00 processing fee for the written exam. Also, please see below for what you will need for the class.
This Technician class will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9am-12:30pm September 14 – October 29, 2021 at the James City-Bruton Fire Station  (multipurpose room), 3135 Forge Rd, Toano, VA. 23168 however two sessions (Oct 19 and 22) will be via Zoom. Face masks and social distance seating will be in effect. (Please park in the rear of the Fire Station by turning into the driveway beyond the Fire Station and the DMV parking lot along Forge Road)

What you need for the class

For the Technician class you will need a copy of the Fourth Edition of the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual. The manual is approximately $32.95 plus tax, plus shipping and handling from the ARRL. Amazon is currently offering the manual for approximately $31.30 with free shipping.
