Historic Triangle Special Event Stations

Historic Triangle Special Event Stations (Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown)

The Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown Special Event Stations are part of our Historic Triangle series and stations. By working all three events, you qualify for a Historic Triangle Certificate. Each year, the Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club operates a special event from three historic sites. The stations get on the air around 10:00 AM and work until around 4:00 so we can take down our station and be off the site by 5:00 PM.  Please check the ARRL web site, or QST magazine for exact details of each event.

Historic Jamestown Special Event

In May, we operate from Historic Jamestowne Island, just a few steps from the site of the first fort built there in 1607.  Jamestown was the first permanent settlement established by the British in the New World.

Colonial Williamsburg Special Event Station

In July, around the fourth of July, we set up in one of the buildings in Colonial Williamsburg t celebrate our Nations Birthday.  The Capital of Virginia was moved from Jamestown to Middle Plantation and renamed Williamsburg in 1699 where it remained until Governor Thomas Jefferson moved it to Richmond to escape the British during he Revolution.

Yorktown Special Event Station

In October, we move to Yorktown, the site of the last major battle of the Revolution and the surrender of the British Army under Lord Cornwallis to American General Geroge Washington.

Please QSL to the club's QSL manager, Steven Flester - KG4SMV.  To request a Certificate for working all 3 events, contact the QSL manager, with contact details and a SASE to accept an 8 1/2 X 11 document.
